秋晴浅間
Mt. Asama on a Clear Autumn Day

雪の白によって青い空に浮かび上がる浅間山を遠景に、手前では黄色から深紅へ、秋草が美しいグラデーションを見せている。バラエティーに富んだ色彩と、「吉田様式」と言われる金箔を巧みに情景に溶け込ませたデリケートな表現の賜物と言えるだろう。
1976年（昭和51年）、中国文化交流使節日本美術家代表団に名誉団長の中川一政、高山辰雄、加山又造、平山郁夫ら共に参加。以降、日本画壇の中心で、日本芸術院賞恩賜賞、内閣総理大臣賞受賞、毎日芸術賞など受賞を重ねている。
1986年（昭和61年）東京芸術大学名誉教授。翌年、日本美術院理事就任。そして89歳となった2001年（平成13年）に肺炎によりこの世を去った。

The autumn-flowering plants show a beautiful gradation from yellow to deep crimson in the foreground against a distant view of Mt. Asama that stands out in the blue sky due to the white of the snow. It can be said that this is the result of a delicate expression that skillfully blends gold leaf into the scene called the Yoshida style with a wide variety of colors.
The artist participated in a delegation of Japanese artists on a cultural exchange mission to China with the honorary leader Kazumasa Nakagawa, Tatsuo Takayama, Matazo Kayama, Ikuo Hirayama and others. After that, he received multiple awards at the center of the Japanese art world. Those included the Imperial Award at the Japan Art Academy Awards, the Prime Minister Award and the Mainichi Art Award.
He became Professor Emeritus of Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music in 1986. He was then appointed Director of the Japan Art Institute the following year. He passed away due to pneumonia in 2001 at the age of 89.
