首の長い独特なシルエットを浮かび上がらせる、タバコの花。美しいだけでなく、どこか妖気を漂わせている。
19世紀末から20世紀初頭にかけてヨーロッパで流行したアールヌーヴォーは、花や植物、昆虫や水生動物などを美しい曲線の中で構成し、斬新で装飾性の高い表現を建築、絵画、工芸など幅広い分野で展開した。
淡い色の下地のガラスに、濃い色のガラスの層を複数重ね、それを酸の力、あるいは手彫りで表面を削り取り、模様を浮きだたせている。シルエットを描くだけでなく、花を表現するために、花の表面も巧みに削り取り、表情が出てくるような細工を施している。

Art nouveau, which was popular in Europe from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century, saw flowers, plants, insects and aquatic animals composed in beautiful curves with highly innovative and decorative expressions developed in a wide range of fields such as architecture, paintings and the industrial arts.
Multiple layers of dark-colored glass were laid on light-colored base glass. The surface of that was then scraped with the power of acid or by hand carving to make the pattern stand out. The surface of the flower was also skillfully shaved off and workmanship to give it expression applied to express the flower instead of simply drawing the silhouette.
