白く輝く雪山を背景に、岸に沿って広がる幻想的な樹木の風景。きりりとした空気の中で、次の季節が巡るのを、ただひたすら静かに待っている。
画面をこすりつけるような筆致は、ものの輪郭をぼかし、「新朦朧(もうろう)体」を確立した作者の特徴がよく表れている。作者の心象が幽玄的に表現され、まるで深い精神性を感じさせる水墨画を色彩豊かに再構成しているかのようである。
奥田元宋は、1912年（明治45年）広島県生まれ。1963年（昭和38年）に日本芸術院賞を受賞。1974年（昭和49年）に日展常任理事に就任し、1984年（昭和59年）には文化勲章を受章。2003年（平成18年）、91歳の生涯を閉じた。

The style of the brush strokes that appear to have been rubbed on the picture blur the outline of the objects and fully show the characteristics of the artist who established the new obscure body style of painting. The mental picture of the artist is expressed with mysterious profundity. It is like he has colorfully reconfigured an India-ink painting that truly makes us feel deep spirituality.
Genso Okuda was born in Hiroshima Prefecture in 1912. He won the Japan Art Academy Award in 1963. He was appointed a standing director of the Japan Fine Arts Exhibition in 1974, he received the Order of Culture in 1984 and he then passed away at 91 in 2003.
