野間 仁根

1901年（明治34年）愛媛県伊予大島の津倉村（吉海町、現・今治市）に生まれた野間仁根は、生涯、釣りと海を愛し、故郷の瀬戸内の海を生涯のテーマとした。
1979年（昭和54年）、78歳で東京にて逝去しているが、ときに故郷の瀬戸内の海を描きに帰省を繰り返している。それほどまでに、野間仁根にとっての、明るい色彩のあふれる瀬戸内の光景は、芸術の根源となる原風景だったのである。
ユーモアにあふれる気さくな人柄により、熊谷守一、藤田嗣治などの芸術家、井伏鱒二、川端康成などの作家たちのとの交流も盛んだった。特に、師でもある熊谷守一とは二人展を開くほどの親交があった。
Born in Tsukura (Yoshiumi, now Imabari) on Iyo Oshima, Ehime Prefecture in 1901, Hitone Noma loved fishing and the sea throughout his life. He made the sea in his birthplace of Setouchi into the theme of his life.
He passed away in Tokyo at the age of 78 in 1979. However, he repeatedly returned to the sea in his birthplace of Setouchi to draw it. The view of Setouchi overflowing with bright colors was an indelible scene of childhood that served as the source of art for Hitone Noma to that extent.
His humorous and friendly manner led him to frequent interactions with Morikazu Kumagai, Tsuguharu Fujita and other artists and Masuji Ibuse, Yasunari Kawabata and other authors. He had a particularly close friendship with his mentor Morikazu Kumagai to the extent they held a joint exhibition together.
