窓からの穏やかな光に、ひっそりと立ち現れてくる静物たち。個展のタイトルにもなった、まさに「空気を描く」作者の視線が冴える。
本作品は。17世紀のネーデルランドに花開いたバロック絵画の雰囲気を伝えている。日本人でありながら、そして日本で描きながら、17世紀のネーデルランドの空気を描く作者の技術と表現力に圧倒される。
現実を見ているようで無意識で別のものを感じている人々とは異なり、その先にある真実を突き止めようとする視線。そして、徹底した写実を通して真理をつかもうとする視線。作者には、宇宙や生命を研究する科学者のようなストイックな姿勢が感じられる。
